We, the Irish-American Connolly Council, seek to help Irish-Americans to rediscover their Irish roots. We can be proud of the blood in our veins. If we are to seek economic justice here in America as well as in our homeland, then our hearts must beat as one.
The Irish have a common history with the oppressed nationalities of the world. As our Irish cousins helped fight in the American Civil War against slavery and in the American Revolution against English occupation, we will continue to stand in solidarity with the Irish against their own English occupation. We strive to realize a reunification of the 32 counties of Ireland for the sake of our brothers and sisters in the old country, and we also seek to find a reunification of Irish-Americans with their revolutionary working class heritage across the Irish diaspora.
Irish-Americans were a major force in the American labor union movement, especially in New York City, Boston and Philadelphia. We know that the cause of Ireland is the cause of labor, so we will work to establish strong ties of international solidarity for the sake of all working people in our respective countries and around the world.
